The coat of the Chow Chow can be black, blue, cream, fawn or red - Either rough or smooth. Below you will find for each colour a puppy, a dog, a bitch and a smooth (from left to right).

ANY COLOURS OTHER THAN THOSE LISTED ABOVE ARE UNACCEPTABLE

The Chow Chow Breed Standard consists of 5 colours : Red, Black, Fawn, Blue and Cream.

Unfortunately, there are other Colours that occur that are unacceptable within the Standard for the Breed such as Chocolate, Platinum, Merle, Lilac, Brindle, Parti-Colour and Black and Tan.

Responsible breeders protect, preserve and better the breed.
